The Date: Saturday 13th June 2009

Me, Dave and Louis have decided on the date and are proposing to set off at midnight from the Moot Hall, Keswick. We are now on the look out for some pacers and team support.

We will be scouting the route over the next few months.

It's going to be early June 2009

32 weeks and counting!

I've been talking with some friends from the running club and three of us have decided to give th BG a go in June 2009. Should we start training now?

The great thing is that there is a lot of information out there.

Anyway, I am planning to go to the Lakes this weekened to scout out Skiddaw, Great Calva and Blencathra...here goes!

Did a bit of training...

Did a bit of the Patterdale Bounday Walk route in August but ran in to some friends on Fairfield and was distracted by bananas and chocolate...

Ran the Langdale Marathon in September and improved on last year's time by 1hr 10mins (but that's only because I got lost last year!) Bloody hard race.

Did the Great North Run in October with a personal best of 1hr 32mins.

Next its the Jedburgh Half in October...

Fell Runners...

Apparently I am the perfect height to be a fell runner - 5'5''.

But 5kg over the ideal weight - 9stone as opposed to 8. Mmm...

I decided today...

Getting back to the UK last week after walking the length of the Pyrenees I have been wondering what challenge I could do next that I would think would be worthwhile. I've thought of the Bob Graham for a couple of years now and sometimes wanted to do it and then suddenly thought 'oh no, that's FAR too hard!' Well, today I thought otherwise and if I plan to do it in June 2009 it gives me a good 10 months to get some training in.

I have done a few fell races, including a couple of long ones in the Lakes (Ennerdale and Duddon) and really enjoy them. I do a fair bit of road running too and after losing 5kg walking the Pyrenees I feel the lightest I have for a while - the problem will be keeping the 5kg off!

So, now what I have to do is:
1. Find other like minded people who can pace me and look after me on the route.
2. Find other like minded people to train with.
3. Do it.
