Borrowdale Fell Race Report

I finished in a time of 4hours 52minutes in 222nd position - out of about 400 runners. It was HARD. There seemed to be an awful lot of UP and not a lot of DOWN. Going up Great Gable and Dalehead were agony - I almost had to stop walking at a few points!!

However, going DOWN from Scafell Pike on the scree was bloody good fun even though its the 3rd time I've been up there and not seen a thing for clag.

Still, I feel a lot better having done my first Borrowdale and I met loads of very friendly people over the weekend. Even managed to get carrot cake at Yew Tree Farm Cafe. BLISS.

Borrowdale Fell Race, July 2009

So I'm off to Borrowdale on Friday - I have gone up market and booked into the YHA on Friday and Saturday nights hoping to get a good night's (dry) sleep. Weather forecast is not too good, but hey its only WATER!!

Going to pop in to Yew Tree Farm cafe too to get great food and some Herdwick yarn to do some knitting after the race.

There has been a bit of flooding on Derwentwater so the rivers should be high for the race. Borrowdale gets a lot of rain!

Patterdale Boundary Race 2009

OK, OK it's going to be 2010!

This year has flown over! We have decided to go for 2010 purely because we didn't have the time to recce the route and be confident in our training schedule.

So me and Louis did the Old Counties Tops in May - 37 miles, 10,000' of ascent and finished it in a respectable position. We actually enjoyed it. Great day out.

I also did the Patterdale Boundary Race in July - 30 miles, 10,000' of ascent and was first home.

I have an entry for Borrowdale on 1st August - 17 miles, 6,5000' of ascent.

So hopefully all this will pay off and we can get round next year.
